Niepoort is one of Portugal's most iconic and respected wine estates, founded by the Dutch Niepoort family in 1842 and now in its sixth generation. Fifth-generation Dirk Niepoort, who joined in the late 1980s, transformed the house from a Port négociant into a globally recognized estate producer — pioneering the Douro's quality revolution in dry table wines alongside the house's benchmark Ports. In 2021, Dirk's son Daniel assumed the role of head winemaker, bringing the sixth generation into full leadership. Based in Vila Nova de Gaia, Niepoort's table wines — particularly Redoma and Charme — are benchmark examples of what the Douro can achieve beyond Port.
